The 2023-on SB140 29 marks a meaningful reset for Yeti’s mid-travel trail bike rather than a simple wheel-size change from the earlier SB140. It keeps the brand’s 140mm rear-travel Switch Infinity layout, but wraps it in a substantially updated chassis with a threaded BSA bottom bracket, SRAM UDH compatibility, revised internal routing aimed at reducing noise, improved frame protection, and updated Switch Infinity hardware and sealing. That matters because the new bike addresses several ownership and serviceability complaints associated with older Yetis while bringing the frame into line with current standards.

In the market, the SB140 29 sits between lightweight trail bikes and mini-enduro machines. Its intent is broad: a do-it-all trail platform that can cover long technical rides, aggressive descending, and faster all-mountain use without drifting into full enduro territory. Yeti’s design brief leaned toward a more modern but not extreme fit, with a steeper effective seat angle and size-specific proportionality concepts to keep rider balance consistent across the range.
