Brompton launches the P Line Mk II, a 9.75kg folding bike from £2,399
A carbon fork, a 23%-lighter Superlight Saddle, and a new aluminium crankset push the Performance Line further from the all-steel C Line.

Brompton has unveiled the P Line Mk II, a refresh of its lightweight Performance folder that drops the S4L variant to 9.75kg and starts at £2,399. The bike keeps the titanium rear frame that has defined the P Line since it replaced the Superlight in 2021, but adds a carbon fork, a new aluminium crankset, a wider aluminium handlebar, refined hinge clamps and a Superlight Saddle that Brompton says is 23 percent lighter than the brand's standard saddle.
The P Line sits between Brompton's all-steel C Line and the carbon-mainframe T Line, and the Mk II keeps that brief: a hand-built London folder pitched at commuters and urban riders who want lower weight without going to the T Line's price point. Brompton quotes 9.75kg for the S4L (mudguards, no rack) and 10.15kg for the S4R (rear rack and rollers); BikeRadar reports a range of 9.85kg to 10.6kg across configurations, with the bike available in 4-speed and 12-speed versions. Folded dimensions are unchanged at 58.5 x 56.5 x 27cm.Road.ccBikeRadar News

The biggest mechanical change is at the front. The previous P Line used a steel fork to match its frame; the Mk II borrows the carbon-fork approach from the higher-end T Line, which Brompton says absorbs road buzz and damps vibration before it reaches the rider's hands. The new aluminium crankset uses short 160mm arms, paired with a 54-tooth narrow-wide chainring intended to keep the chain in place over rough urban surfaces. CNC-milled aluminium pedals replace the previous units, and the left pedal still detaches and stows magnetically behind the fork to keep the folded package compact. A wider aluminium handlebar with thicker tubing is meant to add stiffness for cornering and accelerating, and Brompton has retuned the hinge clamps for what it calls faster, more precise folding.Road.ccBikeRadar News

The Superlight Saddle is the other weight-saving headline: a carbon base with chromoly rails and an integrated carry handle, claimed at 23 percent under the standard Brompton saddle while keeping the mounts and loops needed for Brompton luggage and lights. Prices for the P Line Mk II start at £2,399, with the lineup spanning 4-speed and 12-speed builds and rack and mudguard configurations from there. Road.cc, which has a Mk II in for review, called the original 2022 P Line Urban 'a fantastic and innovative high-performance option from Brompton, but pricey' — a positioning the new bike inherits, sitting above the C Line on weight and componentry while staying well below the T Line.Road.ccBikeRadar News
