The Devinci Minus is a dedicated fat bike built around a Canadian-made aluminum frame and the massive footprint of 27.5 by 4.5-inch tires. Updated from its previous 26-inch iteration, this generation features a revised chassis specifically designed to accommodate the larger wheel standard without compromising its mountain-bike-inspired handling. It is positioned as a durable, pragmatic option for riders looking to extend their trail season into the winter months.
Rather than focusing on ultra-lightweight expedition racing, the Minus leans toward aggressive trail riding and technical snow singletrack. It suits riders who want a familiar, modern hardtail feel in a winter package. While the robust aluminum construction prioritizes long-term durability over weight savings, the platform provides a highly capable foundation for those willing to push through deep snow or eventually invest in lighter rolling stock.

Devinci designed the Minus with geometry that closely mirrors a modern trail hardtail, adapting those angles to work with the massive diameter of 27.5-inch fat tires. A 69-degree head tube angle and a 74-degree seat tube angle remain consistent across the size run, placing the rider in a centered, upright posture that balances steering leverage with efficient pedaling dynamics.
To maintain agility with such large wheels, the chainstays are kept relatively short at 450mm. This tucked rear center helps the bike pivot through tight corners and makes it easier to lift the front end over obstacles. The bottom bracket sits at a 328mm height, providing necessary clearance for soft, rutted snow trails while accounting for the tall tire radius.
Because the frame must clear 4.5-inch tires, it utilizes a wide 203mm Q-factor, which requires a broader pedaling stance. Across all sizes, the cockpit pairs a short 50mm stem with wide 780mm handlebars, giving riders the mechanical advantage needed to muscle the heavy front wheel through deep or unpredictable snow.

The Minus is offered in a single Deore 11-speed build that prioritizes functional durability and accessible pricing over weight savings. The foundation is an aluminum frame paired with a matching aluminum fork, utilizing standard fat bike thru-axle spacing and a reliable 100mm threaded bottom bracket.
Shimano’s Deore 11-speed drivetrain handles shifting, pairing an 11-51T cassette with a 28T chainring to provide an adequately low gear for grinding up steep, snow-covered inclines. Braking is managed by SRAM Level T two-piston hydraulic calipers and 180mm rotors, offering consistent stopping power in winter conditions. Devinci also includes a TranzX dropper post, a valuable addition that allows riders to lower their center of gravity on descents and makes remounting in deep snow significantly easier.
The build rolls on V2 Comp aluminum wheels with an 86mm internal width, wrapped in Maxxis Colossus 27.5 by 4.5-inch tires. While this wheelset is highly durable and provides immense traction, it is also the heaviest component on the bike. The stock package delivers excellent value and reliability for recreational winter riding, though aggressive riders will likely target the wheels for future upgrades.

Reviewers consistently praise the Devinci Minus for its underlying geometry, noting that the frame feels "much more playful and fast than we thought!" (Bicyclesquilicot). The mountain-bike-inspired shape translates well to the snow, resulting in a "gigantic fat bike that’s surprisingly easy to wheelie" (Bike Rumor) and navigate through tight winter singletrack.
However, critics point out that the bike's stock performance is heavily compromised by its rotating mass. The factory wheel and tire setup is exceptionally heavy, creating a "slow-build dynamic" (Teknecycling) that demands significant rider effort to accelerate or maintain momentum on technical climbs. Furthermore, when the stock tires are run with heavy butyl tubes, testers experienced "auto-steer issues" (Bike Rumor) that detracted from the bike's cornering precision.
The consensus among reviewers is that the Minus possesses an excellent chassis that requires a wheel upgrade or a tubeless conversion to realize its potential. Shedding the rotational weight of the stock tubes dramatically improves acceleration, eliminates the sluggish steering feel, and allows the bike's inherently agile geometry to shine on demanding terrain.
